Quick Answer

Warhounds is released for Windows PC on Steam and Epic Games Store. Steam launched on August 11, 2026; the Epic listing followed on August 13. The September 28 Steam check shows Single-player, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, Full Controller Support, and Steam Deck Playable status, while Epic-specific cloud saves and cross-store save compatibility remain unverified.

Major Update 1.0.2 shipped on September 24 and is now the latest numbered patch and latest official update. Steam now lists ten languages: the previous six plus Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and Turkish. Those four new languages have Interface and Subtitles support without Full Audio.

The current Steam store also advertises Full Controller Support and marks Steam Deck compatibility as Playable, not Verified. These are current platform labels, not proof that every menu, prompt, device, or long-session performance path has been tested by this wiki.

Release-status labels

  • Released 1.0: Windows PC availability, the live feature list, languages, and system requirements below come from the current Steam and Epic store pages where stated.
  • Current official roadmap: Both September milestones have shipped. Xbox/PlayStation plus Sea of Pirates remain planned for December, and modding tools remain planned around the first anniversary. Planned does not mean shipped.
  • Post-launch updates: Patch 1.0.1 shipped August 24, Hotfix #6 on August 31, Patch #2 on September 7, and Major Update 1.0.2 on September 24. See patch history and Known Issues for scope and limits.
  • Demo-era: Demo compatibility reports are not used as retail performance evidence.
  • Historical roadmap: The June 16 platform roadmap named Xbox and PS5 and described Steam Deck/controller targets. The August 27 roadmap now supersedes it for current console names and timing.
  • Community observation: Individual performance or compatibility reports depend on hardware and driver versions; they are not official requirements.

Current Windows PC storefronts

StorefrontRelease dateCurrent evidence boundary
SteamAugust 11, 2026Windows, Single-player, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing are listed.
Epic Games StoreAugust 13, 2026An official Windows product page is live; Epic cloud saves and cross-store compatibility are not verified.

On September 28, Steam’s current page advertises:

  • single-player;
  • Steam Achievements;
  • Steam Cloud;
  • Family Sharing;
  • Full Controller Support, with Xbox and PlayStation controller categories;
  • Steam Deck compatibility: Playable.

Steam also lists the ten current languages and the system requirements shown later on this page. The Steam labels do not establish complete end-to-end controller navigation or independent Deck performance, and Steam-only features should not be copied into the Epic column without Epic-specific evidence.

Controller and save evidence

The current first-party Steam page now advertises Full Controller Support and Xbox/PlayStation controller categories. Patch 1.0.1 separately added a gamepad layout and fixed an Ultrawide gamepad-control issue, while Major Update 1.0.2 lists Steam Deck layout fixes.

Keep the evidence layers separate:

  • Steam’s Full Controller Support label is current platform metadata; this wiki has not hands-on verified every combat, base, settings, prompt, and disconnect path;
  • named Xbox/PlayStation controller categories do not prove prompt accuracy for every device;
  • manual saving during missions remains developer-described through the save options; exact menu behavior still benefits from a live test;
  • Steam Cloud is currently listed by Steam.

Key remapping missed launch

A developer reply posted on August 11 said key remapping did not make the launch build and was planned for a later update. Patch 1.0.1 added a gamepad layout but did not announce key remapping. A planned update is not a current setting, so check the live Controls menu before relying on rebinding.

The controls and keybind status page lists the exact evidence needed for a complete keyboard table, controller-coverage test, and Steam Deck report.

Steam Deck status: Playable, not Verified

The current Steam store marks Warhounds as Steam Deck Playable. Major Update 1.0.2 also lists Steam Deck layout fixes. Neither statement upgrades the game to Verified, and the release note does not claim that every Deck-specific navigation or presentation issue is solved.

The older developer target of 30 FPS remains historical context rather than an independent benchmark. Current evidence still does not establish battery life, native 1280×800 or 16:10 behavior, text readability across every screen, suspend-and-resume reliability, or performance across a full campaign. Those remain hands-on verification items.

Saves and Steam Cloud

Steam Cloud is currently listed. Steam’s cloud configuration points to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\EverPlay\Warhounds\Save and an *.mdb file pattern. That is high-confidence configuration evidence, but a local retail check should still match file timestamps after saving and closing the game.

A post-launch developer answer describes three save approaches: saving whenever desired except in the first tutorial missions, saving only at mission start and finish, and Ironman with one save updated each turn. The answer does not provide exact menu labels, mid-campaign switching rules, or achievement effects. For a safer backup:

  1. Exit Warhounds normally and wait for Steam’s cloud status to show that synchronization has completed.
  2. Open the configuration-backed folder and confirm which .mdb files changed after the save.
  3. Copy the whole Save directory rather than one guessed file.
  4. Store that copy outside the game installation directory and label it with the date and the current patch.
  5. Keep a second copy before trying a trainer, unsupported file edit, or newly released patch.

Cloud synchronization is convenient, but a damaged or unwanted state can also synchronize. A separate dated copy is the safer rollback point.

See the save file location guide for exact open, backup, restore, and cloud-conflict steps. The path is Steam-backed evidence; this wiki does not assume the Epic build uses the same folder or supports cross-store saves.

Spanish (Spain)YesYesNo
PolishYesYesNo
Simplified ChineseYesYesNo
JapaneseYesYesNo

Language support comes from the live Steam store table checked September 28. Patch 1.0.1 says the German, French, Spanish, and Polish localizations received edits and improvements. Patch #2 added Simplified Chinese on September 7; Major Update 1.0.2 added Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and Turkish on September 24.

Simplified Chinese status

Yes — Simplified Chinese is now shipped. Patch #2, released September 7, confirms both UI and subtitle localization. The current Steam language table still lists Simplified Chinese for interface and subtitles, without full audio.

Patch #2 is separate from Major Update 1.0.2 and its four later localizations.

Update 1.0.2 languages - released September 24

Major Update 1.0.2 added four localizations:

  • Korean;
  • Japanese;
  • Portuguese (Brazil);
  • Turkish.

The current Steam table independently lists all four for Interface: Yes, Subtitles: Yes, Full Audio: No. Do not convert the release note’s generic “localization support” into Full Audio support.

Console release plan

The August 27 roadmap says Xbox and PlayStation are currently planned for December 2026, alongside the Sea of Pirates DLC. No console release is live as of September 28, and the roadmap warns that plans and dates may change.

The current announcement says Xbox and PlayStation. This page does not narrow those names to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or another hardware generation without newer official evidence.

See the Warhounds 2026 Roadmap for the full dated schedule and Released/Scheduled/Planned distinction.

Mac status

The current Steam and Epic listings are for Windows. A developer said on February 12 that a Mac version was planned but gave no date. That older reply is roadmap context, not release confirmation. Do not describe Warhounds as available on macOS until an official Mac store page, requirements table, or release announcement appears.

These are publisher-provided specifications, not independent benchmarks. Hardware with similar names can perform differently because of cooling, memory configuration, resolution, and driver state.

Before purchasing or installing

Leave more than the listed 85 GB free when practical because downloads, unpacking, updates, and platform caches can need temporary space. Then compare the exact GPU model and VRAM, not just the family name.

For a controller-first or Steam Deck setup, start with the current Steam controller metadata and the Patch 1.0.1 layout, then confirm prompts, camera sensitivity, frame pacing, text size, base navigation, and suspend behavior during the opening session. Major Update 1.0.2’s Deck layout fixes and Steam’s platform labels are not broad enough to promise every navigation path or performance condition.

Once the installation is ready, use the first two hours checklist to verify the live controls and interface without relying on demo-era steps. The difficulty settings guide also explains how to choose a campaign without assuming undocumented achievement rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is Warhounds on consoles?

The confirmed release is still Windows on Steam and Epic Games Store. The August 27 roadmap currently plans Xbox and PlayStation for December 2026. That is a future console plan, not a released console version, and the official wording does not specify a hardware generation.

Is Simplified Chinese available now?

Yes. Patch #2 released on September 7 and added Simplified Chinese for both the interface and subtitles. Steam’s September 8 language table confirms the same support, with no full Chinese audio listed.

Is Warhounds Steam Deck Verified?

No. The current Steam store marks Warhounds Playable, not Verified. Major Update 1.0.2 lists Steam Deck layout fixes, but neither the store badge nor the patch note is a hands-on performance test.

Does Warhounds have full controller support?

The current Steam store advertises Full Controller Support and Xbox/PlayStation controller categories. That is current platform metadata, while complete menu coverage, prompt accuracy, device-specific behavior, and disconnect recovery still need direct testing.

Can you save during missions?

A post-launch developer answer describes saving whenever desired except in the first tutorial missions, mission-boundary saves, and Ironman turn-by-turn saving. Exact menu labels, switching rules, and achievement effects still need controlled retail testing.

Is Warhounds on Epic Games Store?

Yes. The official Windows product page is live with an August 13, 2026 release date. Epic cloud saves and cross-store save compatibility are not verified here.

Is Warhounds available on Mac?

No current Mac release is listed. A February developer reply said a Mac version was planned without a date, so it remains an older intention rather than a shipped platform.

What is the current Warhounds version?

Warhounds launched as version 1.0. Major Update 1.0.2 shipped on September 24 and is the latest numbered patch and latest official game update verified on September 28. The patch history keeps earlier Patch #2, Patch 1.0.1, and hotfixes in their historical sequence.

Does Warhounds have English voice acting?

Yes. Steam lists full English audio. French, German, Spanish, Polish, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and Turkish are listed for interface and subtitles rather than full audio.
