Warhounds Weapons and Equipment: Verified Gear Reference
Check verified Warhounds gear facts for the Used Sunset Assault Rifle, Recon and Hunter Drones, used Achilles armor, and the released Exoskeleton.
This page records equipment facts only when an official source or an official game screenshot supports them. It separates what the interface actually shows from loadout advice, and it keeps historical screenshots tied to their visible build instead of turning old numbers into current stats.
The official news feed was rechecked on September 28, 2026. Major Update 1.0.2 from September 24 is now the newest numbered patch and newest official update. Its release note confirms the Exoskeleton as a new late-game armor type found in loot or purchased on the Black Market.
Quick reference: named equipment with traceable evidence
| Item | Type | What is actually verified | Version / source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Used Sunset Assault Rifle | Assault rifle | An official screenshot visibly names the equipped weapon. The selected action reads Short assault rifle burst; that exact target preview shows 100% Accuracy and Damage 1–3. | Official press-kit screenshot, v1.0.0 (2997), W44 |
| Recon Drone | Drone | Patch 1.0.1 removed its separate contract; it becomes available immediately after building the Workshop. | Patch 1.0.1, W34 |
| Hunter Drone | Drone | Patch 1.0.1 fixed an incorrect damage display. The note does not say the underlying damage was rebalanced. | Patch 1.0.1, W34 |
| used Achilles armor | Armor | Hotfix #6 fixed missing HP bonuses while wearing this armor. The note does not publish the bonus value. | Hotfix #6, W43 |
| Exoskeleton | Late-game armor | Major Update 1.0.2 says it can be found in loot or purchased on the Black Market. The note does not publish stats, price, restrictions, or drop rates. | Major Update 1.0.2, W52 |
Read the screenshot as a dated observation, not a universal stat card

The selected weapon is visibly labeled Used Sunset Assault Rifle and the action reads Short assault rifle burst. The right-side target preview shows 100% Accuracy and Damage 1–3 for this shot. Official press-kit screenshot, version 1.0.0 (2997); it is historical evidence, not a Major Update 1.0.2 weapon-stat claim. View full-size image. Image: Everplay DMCC / Brightika, Inc., via the official press kit.
The same action panel also displays 3–5 beside the shot icon while the target preview displays Damage 1–3. Without an official label explaining how those two numbers relate, this page does not turn 3–5 into a universal weapon damage value. Because the screenshot itself does not explain the difference, both numbers stay context-bound UI observations rather than a normalized weapon stat.
The screenshot also contains weapon/ammunition UI icons, but it does not label them clearly enough to publish a magazine capacity or ammunition rule. Those fields remain omitted instead of guessed.
Released equipment versus roadmap equipment
The evidence boundary matters more than the calendar date:
- Released systems: the current Steam store advertises weapons, gear, abilities, drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camouflage.
- Patch-confirmed named gear: Patch 1.0.1 names the Recon Drone and Hunter Drone; Hotfix #6 names used Achilles armor.
- Current official update: Major Update 1.0.2, published September 24, releases the Exoskeleton and gives one acquisition boundary: late-game loot or the Black Market.
- Character Editor additions: the final release note names various patches, armor kits, and a new headgear option.
- Roadmap-only wording that is not automatically promoted: the August 27 plan used armor attachments and country flag patches. The release note does not repeat those exact phrases, so this page does not treat them as confirmed synonyms for armor kits or patches.
The final release announcement is shipment evidence for the Exoskeleton. It is not a current stat sheet: exact armor values, prices, restrictions, loot rates, and upgrade behavior still require current-build evidence.
Recon Drone, Hunter Drone, and Achilles armor: what the patch notes do not prove
Recon Drone
Patch 1.0.1 gives one precise acquisition change: the separate Recon Drone contract was removed, and the drone is available immediately after the Workshop is built. The note does not publish damage, range, charges, cooldown, slot use, upgrade levels, or current price.
For drone-specific boundaries, use the Recon and Hunter Drone guide.
Hunter Drone
The same patch says the damage display was incorrect and was fixed. That supports a UI correction, not a buff or nerf. A current damage value still needs a current tooltip or controlled in-game capture.
used Achilles armor
Hotfix #6 lists a fix for missing HP bonuses while wearing the used Achilles armor. This confirms the named armor and that an HP bonus is associated with it, but the note does not publish the amount, purchase route, class restrictions, durability, or whether other Achilles variants exist.
How to record a current loadout without mixing contexts
When checking an item in your installed build, keep the observation small enough to reproduce:
- Record the installed game version or latest update shown by Steam.
- Capture the exact item name, including condition prefixes such as Used when the interface shows them.
- Record the slot or item type only if the interface labels it clearly.
- Capture the item tooltip separately from an attack preview. Do not treat a target-specific prediction as a permanent weapon stat.
- Record action-point or ammunition values only when the UI labels what the number means.
- Note the selected operative, relevant class restriction, upgrade state, and target context if any of those are visible.
- Keep the screenshot with the date and build so later patches can be compared without overwriting the older observation.
This is the minimum evidence needed before adding another numerical row here. A screenshot from v1.0.0 can remain useful historical evidence, but it does not silently become a Major Update 1.0.2 benchmark.
Use the reference to make loadout decisions
The table above is factual reference material; the guidance below is editorial planning advice.
- Primary engagement: choose a weapon whose current interface and restrictions fit the ranges you expect to use.
- Information: compare an available drone or scanner with the uncertainty the mission creates.
- Concealment: smoke and optical camouflage are confirmed equipment systems, but their exact current durations and detection rules are not documented here.
- Survival: armor can matter to campaign durability, but one named Hotfix #6 fix is not enough to rank every armor item.
- Fallback: avoid a plan that fails completely when one operative, item, or attack becomes unavailable.
For role restrictions and squad jobs, see Classes and Squad Roles. For reaction-fire planning, use the Overwatch guide. For Workshop and campaign spending context, see Base Management. For the dated release sequence behind the version labels above, use Patch History.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best weapon in Warhounds?
There is no verified universal answer on this page. Compare the current item tooltip, operative restrictions, mission, target context, and installed version instead of ranking weapons from one old screenshot or one damage preview.
Is 3–5 the current damage of the Sunset Assault Rifle?
This page does not make that claim. The official v1.0.0 screenshot shows 3–5 in the action panel while the same selected shot shows a 1–3 target damage preview. The screenshot does not explain the relationship, and it predates Major Update 1.0.2.
How do you unlock the Recon Drone?
Build the Workshop. Patch 1.0.1 removed the separate Recon Drone contract and says the Recon Drone becomes available immediately after Workshop construction.
Was the Hunter Drone damage changed?
The official note says its damage display was incorrect and was fixed. It does not say the underlying damage balance changed.
How much HP does used Achilles armor add?
The Hotfix #6 note does not publish the amount. It only records a fix for missing HP bonuses while wearing used Achilles armor, so this page does not invent a number.
Is the Exoskeleton available now? What about armor attachments?
Exoskeletons are released. Armor attachments under that exact roadmap term are not independently confirmed as shipped. Major Update 1.0.2 describes the Exoskeleton as late-game armor found in loot or purchased on the Black Market. The final release note does not repeat the roadmap term armor attachments; it instead names Character Editor armor kits, so this page does not claim those phrases are the same feature without stronger evidence.
