Quick Answer

Warhounds launched as version 1.0 on August 11, 2026. Major Update 1.0.2, released September 24, is both the latest numbered patch and the latest official game update verified on September 28. It adds a campaign-progression rebalance, Exoskeleton armor, rookie class selection, four localizations, Character Editor additions, quality-of-life changes, and a broad set of developer-listed fixes. Patch #2 from September 7 is the immediately preceding named update.

See Known Issues and Fix Status for the difference between a developer-listed fix and independent recurrence testing, and the 2026 Roadmap for released versus still-planned milestones.

Why a patch log matters here

Patch notes do more than list fixes: each note is dated official evidence that a mechanic exists in the retail build. The entries below therefore link each fix back to the systems it touches, and the status displays across this wiki read the newest patch from a single data source instead of repeating a hardcoded name.

Hotfix #1 — August 13, 2026

Posted as “Warhounds: First Hotfix & Two New Bundles”. The published fix list confirms these retail systems exist:

  • Barracks construction tied to crew availability — a base-building fix.
  • Evacuation zone scripting — a freeze when the last soldier died inside it; soldiers can also evacuate individually (a missing voice line was fixed).
  • Barrel explosion radius — an environment hazard fix.
  • Promotion and funds — an exit issue involving promoted soldiers with low funds.
  • Prisoner carrying — a movement debuff that could stack repeatedly.
  • Tutorial lip sync.

What this proves: the launch build includes base construction with a Barracks, evacuation mechanics, promotion, a funds economy, and prisoner handling. Exact costs, times, and penalty values are not stated in the note and remain unverified.

Hotfix #2 — August 14, 2026

  • Temporarily disabled VSync because of camera issues.
  • Localization fixes.

Practical consequence: camera behavior recorded before and after this hotfix is not automatically equivalent — dated footage should name its patch.

Hotfix #3 — August 16, 2026

Posted as “Hotfix #3: Crashes and Faster Loading”.

  • Partially fixed crashes when entering or leaving missions.
  • Faster location loading.
  • Mitigated water/shader-related crashes in the base menu, the second location, and several story locations.

Hotfix #4 — August 17, 2026

  • Fixed the probable cause of crashes when loading into or exiting missions.
  • Fixed a freeze that could occur during double Overwatch.
  • Fixed missing cities.
  • Fixed soldiers stuck on recon missions.

What this proves: the retail game logic contains situations the developers call “double Overwatch” — the note does not explain the mechanic, so this wiki records the existence without interpreting the rule. Recon missions and a city list are likewise confirmed by name.

Hotfix #5 — August 19, 2026

Official title: “Hotfix #5: Further Fixes for Missing Cities”.

  • Further fixes for issues with missing cities.

The wording matters: this is evidence that missing-city edge cases remained after Hotfix #4. It is not an official claim that every cause is eliminated, so the issue stays version-sensitive in the Known Issues hub.

Patch 1.0.1 — August 24, 2026

Patch 1.0.1 is the first numbered post-launch patch after the five hotfixes. The official list is grouped below by player-facing effect rather than copied as one long changelog.

Features and usability

  • Added a gamepad control layout.
  • Updated loading screens.
  • Removed the Recon Drone contract; the Recon Drone is now available immediately after building the Workshop.
  • Edited and improved the German, French, Spanish, and Polish localizations.

The announcement does not say that key remapping, complete controller navigation, or a Full Controller Support store label shipped. Those remain separate verification questions in the controls guide.

Performance and controls

  • Fixed FPS drops caused by smoke particles.
  • Fixed a long camera delay after taking a shot.
  • Fixed player control failing to return promptly after cutscenes and dialogue scenes.
  • Fixed gamepad control issues on Ultrawide monitors.

Missions and campaign state

  • Fixed a mission failure that could occur after rescuing a VIP if all soldiers died.
  • Fixed errors during squad rotation between double missions.
  • Fixed certain statuses failing to persist across save and load cycles.
  • Fixed specific mission-script and mission-object edge cases.
  • Fixed incorrect soldier portraits in random events and an incorrect Julia voice-line trigger during missions.

The VIP fix describes one failure-state edge case. It does not document how to stun, bind, carry, or extract a VIP.

Interface, data, and presentation

  • Fixed discounts not appearing in the Hangar item list.
  • Fixed incorrect damage display for the Hunter Drone.
  • Fixed an error caused by rapidly switching between meta screens.
  • Fixed stuck character silhouette highlights.
  • Corrected specific item and ability descriptions.
  • Fixed specific fire VFX, SFX, animation glitches, and improved final-mission lighting.

The Hunter Drone entry is explicitly a display correction. The note does not publish its actual damage, range, cooldown, slot use, or upgrade values.

Hotfix #6 - August 31, 2026

Official title: “Hotfix #6: Fixes and Improvements”. This was the latest official game update before Patch #2 shipped on September 7; it is a hotfix, not Patch 1.0.2.

The developer lists fixes for:

  • specific cases where the game could freeze and player input could stop responding;
  • the achievement for recruiting all veterans failing to unlock;
  • failing to receive a payout after protecting an objective;
  • Action Point calculation when combining Sniper abilities;
  • used Achilles armor missing its HP bonuses;
  • story missions occasionally failing to appear;
  • an explosive objective being accidentally destroyed during Subversion missions;
  • a bug the official note describes only as “blocked the Ground”; this wiki does not infer a mechanic from that wording;
  • localization errors.

“Fixed” here means developer-listed fix. It does not establish that this wiki has reproduced the old bug or verified every related edge case on every save.

Patch #2: Simplified Chinese Localization - September 7, 2026

Patch #2 shipped the first September roadmap milestone. The official announcement confirms:

  • Simplified Chinese interface localization;
  • Simplified Chinese subtitles;
  • fixes for several UI issues.

The announcement does not enumerate the individual UI fixes, so this wiki does not invent a detailed fix list. Steam’s current language table independently reflects Simplified Chinese interface and subtitle support without full audio.

Patch #2 is not Major Update 1.0.2. It is a separate localization/UI update.

Major Update 1.0.2 — September 24, 2026

Major Update 1.0.2 is the first post-launch update to advance the numbered version beyond 1.0.1. The official release announcement confirms these shipped systems:

  • campaign meta-economy and progression were rebalanced;
  • Exoskeleton was added as late-game armor obtainable from loot or the Black Market;
  • rookie class selection was added;
  • Portuguese (Brazil), Korean, Japanese, and Turkish localization support was added;
  • the Character Editor received various patches, armor kits, and a new headgear option.

The release note also adds quality-of-life changes including a revised shot-accuracy window, a Black Market countdown, loot-cell markers, progress bars for recon and covert activity, Injured/Tired duration display after missions, tutorial skipping on later playthroughs, Steam Deck layout fixes, and mission-completion audio cues.

Its developer-listed fixes span Rescue rewards, Joint Operation spawning, random events, mission scripts/objects/grid cells, city recon, scanning, tutorials, named abilities, smoke interactions, the missing taser weapon for the player-controlled Cai Shen squad, Ultrawide map cursor behavior, drone/UAV presentation, Julia voice lines, line-of-sight accuracy calculations, status saving, story-mission manual extraction, zone highlights, enemy behavior, animation, SFX, and localization cases.

Evidence boundary: “fixed” above means the developer lists a fix in the release note. Warhounds.org has not independently reproduced the old defects and re-tested every affected case on 1.0.2.

The August roadmap used the planned terms armor attachments and country flag patches. The final release note instead names Character Editor patches, armor kits, and a new headgear option. This history page does not silently treat those phrases as identical; released scope follows the final release-note wording.

What comes next

Both September roadmap milestones have shipped. The still-future roadmap items are Sea of Pirates, Xbox and PlayStation for December 2026, and modding tools around the first anniversary. They remain planned until current first-party evidence confirms release. See the Warhounds 2026 Roadmap for the dated status table.

How this page is maintained

  • New entries are added only from the official Steam news feed, with the verification date updated on each check.
  • Dates are the official post dates (UTC); Steam may display them shifted by your local timezone.
  • When a patch changes a mechanic covered elsewhere on this wiki, the mechanic page keeps its own dated patch note rather than silently overwriting the old behavior.
