Warhounds Veterans Overview: Confirmed Roster Evidence

Review sourced Warhounds veteran evidence from the retail Barracks roster, official ten-veteran count, cosmetic DLC scope, and veteran-hiring achievement.

Warhounds’ current official website advertises ten unique veterans with their own traits, stories, and abilities, alongside ordinary recruits. Steam’s Gang’s All Here achievement requires hiring all veterans, and the August 31 Hotfix #6 notes a fix for that achievement failing to unlock.

This page owns veteran identity and roster evidence. Use recruitment, medical care, and downtime for the hiring workflow, displayed requirements, prices, and roster-capacity questions. Use classes and squad roles for class mechanics and class-specific abilities.

What makes a veteran different?

The official website describes veterans as authored characters with individual traits, stories, and abilities. The pre-release Dev Log #7 also described veterans reacting to missions, sharing stories aboard the helicopter, and interacting with one another. That is characterization evidence, not a current skill-value table.

The released Action Heroes Pack is another useful boundary: its Steam page says the DLC provides an alternative look for nine veterans. It does not identify those nine, does not change the official ten-veteran roster count, and does not document recruitment conditions.

Do not turn those statements into a universal power ranking. A veteran label does not by itself prove a fixed stat advantage, weapon restriction, price, or unlock chapter. Those details need character-level evidence from the released game.

What the official Barracks snapshot confirms

The press-kit image is useful because it is a released-game roster view with a visible build label. It supports the following narrow observations without inventing a ten-person dossier:

CallsignDisplayed levelDisplayed readiness
Crow3Ready
Diesel3Ready
Fidget3Ready
Frost3Ready
Grunt3Ready
MayB4Ready
Rook3Ready
Shaman3Ready

The same rows show class icons and a purple three-star badge, but the screenshot does not print a text legend for either marker. This guide therefore does not use the image alone to map every icon to a class or to declare every visible row a confirmed recruitable veteran. A named roster appearance is evidence of the operative’s presence, not by itself their recruitment trigger, price, personal skill, or veteran status.

What is still needed for a per-veteran dossier

A character entry is publishable when the evidence ties the same released-game character to the fields being claimed. The minimum useful capture is:

  • the callsign and an explicit veteran indicator or equivalent released-game context;
  • the class in text, or an independently verified class-icon legend;
  • the personal skill name plus the full in-game description or an accurate, scoped paraphrase;
  • the recruitment requirement and any displayed price from that exact offer;
  • the game version/build and the source timestamp or screenshot provenance.

A displayed price proves the price in that captured campaign state only. It should not be promoted to a universal fixed cost unless repeated evidence or an official rule establishes that.

Gang’s All Here did not unlock after hiring all veterans

The developer’s August 31 Hotfix #6 notes specifically list a fix for the achievement failing to unlock after recruiting all veterans.

If you encounter the same symptom:

  1. Check that your installation includes the August 31 fix. An older report may describe the issue the developer addressed.
  2. Distinguish the two roster achievements. Gang’s All Here concerns hiring all veterans; All the King’s Men concerns hiring the maximum number of soldiers. Filling the roster is not the same condition as collecting every veteran.
  3. Compare your hiring history with the achievement requirement. A character appearing in a mission, dialogue, or Barracks screenshot is not proof that you hired them in the current campaign.
  4. Keep your version and campaign details if it still fails. Record the recruitment state when reporting the remaining issue.

The hotfix note does not say whether the achievement is awarded retroactively on every affected save or whether another event must trigger the check. It also does not justify restarting a campaign as a guaranteed fix.

Frequently asked questions

Are veterans and Veteran difficulty the same thing?

No. Veterans are characters in the roster. Veteran is also the name of a difficulty referenced in Steam’s public achievements; that label does not identify a recruit’s class or hiring condition.

Does a character named in a developer diary count as a recruitable veteran?

Not automatically. Pre-release Dev Log #7 mentions President Kanindo, Moro, Wei-Lin, and Ali in its character discussion. Those mentions alone do not establish that each is a recruitable veteran in the released game.

Were the portraits changed?

Yes. An official April 17 art update said temporary AI-generated portraits were being replaced with renders of in-game 3D character models. Old portraits can therefore be an unreliable way to match a guide to a current character. See Warhounds AI portraits for the announcement.

Where should I look for prices and unlock conditions?

Use the recruitment, medical care, and downtime guide. This page deliberately keeps character identity evidence separate from the campaign-specific offer that determines whether a hire is available now.
